Exercise is the tip of the NPF pyramid. Exercise is the finishing touch that transforms healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition into a lean, athletic and visually stunning body. Let me first separate exercise into two main components: cardiovascular exercise (cardio) and resistance exercise (lifting). Cardiovascular exercise primarily focuses on burning excess calories (fat) and resistance exercise helps build lean body mass (muscle). This is not to say that you do not burn calories when lifting weight or build muscle when jogging. Let's just say that each component has an emphasis. From a long term health perspective, I must say that if I were limited to only one of the two components I would exclusively do cardiovascular exercise. Think of cardio as the exercise component that keeps you healthy and lifting as the component that keeps you attractive. NoPayneFitness will construct a cardio program around your unique needs and circumstances. NPF follows the "you give a (wo)man a fish he/she will eat for a day....teach him/her how to fish and he/she will eat forever" philosophy. We want you to understand each step of the process and build independence. Resistance exercise involves using weighted resistance to stimulate muscle to maintain or increase muscle volume. Muscle is a real calorie guzzler and greatly contributes to one's ability to maintain a lean body. The general rule is that a lean body will stay lean. NPF will design a resistance exercise program that helps you achieve and maintain your optimal body weight and look great in your swim suit all year.
