If lifestyle lays the foundation for being fit and healthy, think of nutrition as the raw materials poured to make the foundation. Simply put, anything that you eat or drink falls under the category of nutrition. Nutrition can be broken down into two distinct categories: macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients. Macro-nutrients have a caloric (energy) value. Carrots, ice cream, whole grain bread and fish are all examples of macro-nutrients. Better management of the macro-nutrients you consume plays a huge role in your health and fitness levels. Micro-nutrients have no caloric (energy) value. Vitamins, minerals and water are all micro-nutrients. There are several essential micro-nutrients the body needs to maintain itself. They are derived form three basic sources: food, supplements and some are produced by the body. Think of macro-nutrients (food) as the brick and micro-nutrients (vitamins, minerals and water) as the mortar. The proper combination will allow your body to build, maintain and repair tissue properly and set you in the right path to optimal health and fitness. Deficiencies in either (macro-nutrients or micro-nutrients) will retard your ability to be healthy and fit. The second stage of the NoPayneFitness program addresses nutrition. We will analyze you current consumption habits and recommend moderate, permanent and livable changes in your nutrition that contribute to better health and fitness. My philosophy is "moderation not deprivation". You will not be told to completely give up your indulgences. We just want to moderate these areas. PLEASE NOTE THAT NPF DOES NOT DIAGNOSE, TREAT OR EVALUATE MEDICAL CONDITIONS. WE ARE NOT DOCTORS, THERAPISTS OR MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS. ONE SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE PHYSICAL PRIOR TO EMBARKING ON ANY FITNESS PROGRAM.
